BFFI 2011

I was at the BFFI 2011 in Stafford this weekend on the GAIA stand what a great weekend and informative.  It started on the Friday when I attended a workshop run by Paul Little what a great day that was.  Tying in the company of Stack Scoville and Marvin Nolte from the USA, both are fantastic tiers in their own right.  Marvin is probably the best tier of classic salmon flies in the world and Paul Little certainly is the best in the UK and  as good.  We spent the day tying a Thalia (Book of the Salmon by Ephemera).  A great looking fly and mine looked sort of like the one in the file I was given.  I will go back to this workshop for 2 days in 2012.

Now the show, as usual it was a great day lots to see and although I had done a list in advance I still spent more than I should of and would have liked a lot more.  Funny the guys you meet when you are sitting tying, dour Scotsman who dislikes grayling and not willing to share his name, to fantastic children who marvel at anything new and absorb as much info as you can give them. I was representing GAIA along with Mark Roberts and Louis Noble, I enjoyed it and will go back next year if I am invited.
